Cape Air Transport is seeking an entry level line pilot to join our operations based at Horn Island in the Torres Strait.
This is a real line pilot position, not a cadetship or pay-to-fly program, providing a structured pathway into multi-engine Part 135 operations in the BN2 Islander.
Operations are conducted primarily Day VFR and involve high-frequency charter flying, short sectors, and remote island operations. Pilots operate as PIC from the outset, managing passengers, loading, documentation, and decision making in a demanding operational environment.
Minimum Requirements
Australian CPL (no equivalent)
Minimum 250 hours total time
Current Multi Engine Class Rating
Manual propeller pitch control endorsement
Ability to operate independently and unsupervised within SOPs
Willingness to live and work in a remote location
What We Are Looking For
This role is suited to pilots who:
Are ready to step into operational flying
Can follow SOPs while also understanding why they exist
Are willing to get involved, self-motivate, and take ownership
Demonstrate sound decision making and risk management
Have exposure to flying outside a purely flight school environment
Important:
This document is intentionally detailed — read it in full before applying
By the time you are invited to a final assessment, you are considered a strong candidate — the role is yours to lose
