About the Role

The IOS Operator is responsible to the Lead Instructor. The core role is Operational Support to training serials by controlling the simulator IOS station and contributing to role play activities to enhance the immersive experience for trainees. This includes preparation for each training sortie, support to delivery (e.g. role-playing crew positions), and debrief activities as required.

For the C-130J IOS role, the position requires the ability to contribute to complex combat airlift scenarios including multi-tasking to run the simulator devices and act as key crew and non-crew roles required for tactical and non-tactical training outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • The operation of IOS stations in contribution to the delivery of training in synthetic training devices
  • Assisting in the development of simulator training events, including role play
  • Assisting the development and execution of Tactical Scenarios in the Synthetic environment, including role play
  • Liaising with Military QFIs and CAE Instructors to deliver the best quality training outcomes
  • Actively contributing to the Quality Management System and EH&S for day-to-day operations and looking for opportunities to improve operations, processes, procedures and work instructions

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to obtain/maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
  • Demonstrated experience supporting military aviation, aviation training, simulation, operations, mission planning, or related operational environments
  • Ability to multitask under pressure and manage multiple activities simultaneously within complex training scenarios
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with military personnel, instructors, and stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience in the Defence Industry
  • Military aircrew experience, particularly within combat airlift operations
  • Experience operating flight simulators, Instructor Operating Stations (IOS), or synthetic training environments
  • Experience supporting C-130J operations, training, or mission planning
