About the Role

As the eJournal Technical Lead, you will drive the development, delivery, continuous improvement and lifecycle management of the eJournal system. This leadership role includes coordinating and prioritising related tasks across the team. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) eJournal system, Defence aviation technical training and Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR).

In partnership with the Commonwealth of Australia, BDA provides aircraft maintenance, upgrades, technical support and mission-critical infrastructure. We deliver training on some of the world's most advanced surveillance, command, control and combat platforms.

The Opportunity

Join a collaborative, embedded workforce supporting training data/experience capturing requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading responses to regulatory frameworks and stakeholder requirements to prioritise system changes, maintenance, innovation and training.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to align system development with Army Aviation and broader Defence needs.
  • The eJournal Technical Lead shall be responsive to the Army Aviation Training Centre, subject to any International Traffic in Arms or Intellectual Property constraints.

Location: Swartz Barracks, Oakey, QLD

To be considered, you will have:

  • Practical experience and thorough knowledge of the eJournal system and its digital processes
  • Familiarity with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASRs)
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
  • Experience managing web application development and deployment
  • Skilled in planning and managing technical project deliverables
  • Proficiency with MS Visual Studio 2017 or later
  • Formal qualifications plus:
    • Minimum 1 year experience (or 2 years demonstrated experience) in MS SQL Server 2008+ database administration and development
    • Minimum 2 years experience (or 5 years demonstrated experience) building and maintaining ASP.NET MVC C# web applications using Visual Studio
    • Minimum 1 year experience in HTML5 and java-script development.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience in Defence aviation training environments
  • Resident of Southeast Queensland.

Desirable

  • Experience developing quality management systems for software
  • Leadership experience managing small technical teams
  • Defence or Defence Industry background
  • Knowledge and involvement with Competency Based Training and Assessment
  • TAE16 or equivalent training and assessment qualifications.

Note: Australian citizenship and eligibility for Negative Vetting 1 security clearance are mandatory.
