About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Representative – P-8A Avionics & Mission Systems to join the Maintenance Support team in Edinburgh, South Australia, supporting 11 and 12 Squadron operations. This role is focused on the sustainment of the P-8A Poseidon, with particular emphasis on avionics and mission systems.
You will provide technical support to maintenance and engineering stakeholders, helping to resolve complex aircraft faults, improve maintenance practices, and support aircraft availability. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role that requires strong technical judgement, sound communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups within a Defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide platform avionic subject matter expertise to Maintenance and Engineering teams in support of complex aircraft fault resolution
- Lead maintenance investigations and contribute to improvements in maintenance practices, policies and technical instructions
- Support ILM, DM and operational maintenance teams with planning and scheduling to reduce risk to aircraft availability
- Mentor junior technicians and provide guidance on platform-specific systems and aviation maintenance practices
- Support the development and delivery of continuation training following maintenance events, changes or lessons learned
- Liaise with the Defence customer, ADF end user and Boeing sustainment teams to support the ongoing evolution of the capability
- Assist with reporting on system availability, platform performance and contract KPIs
- Identify and manage risks, delivering against milestones and project schedules in a matrix environment
What You'll Bring
Essential
- Demonstrated understanding of the Defence aviation maintenance and engineering regulatory framework
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an operational aviation maintenance environment
- Minimum 3 years' experience providing engineering and/or logistics support within an ADF military technical or logistics environment
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems using sound judgement and practical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across teams and with stakeholders at all organisational levels
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, professional approach
Desirable
- Knowledge of P-8A avionics and mission systems, or significant Boeing 737 experience
- Understanding of the P-8A Program, particularly avionics and mission systems integration in support of ADF capability
- Experience supporting communications and electronic systems in a Defence environment
- Experience working in Defence or complex engineering project environments
