The Opportunity

Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team is seeking an experienced Aviation Maintenance (145 / MRO) Professional to support a world class rotary-wing platform as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Avionics. This role is based at RAAF Base Townsville in tropical North Queensland and supports the Chinook Integrated Support Services Program. Working side by side with our Australian Defence Force customer, you will play a vital role in the maintenance of Boeing CH-47F Chinook avionics and electrical systems and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is responsible for the maintenance, modification, servicing, inspection, testing and troubleshooting of aircraft systems, associated components and associated equipment within the scope of their applicable trade, qualifications, training, competency, and Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) authorisation(s). The AME completes assigned tasks by undertaking a variety of AMO aircraft maintenance activities, sign-off, and Certification of those aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with the appropriate Authorised Maintenance Data (AMD), and interprets Instruction for Continuing Airworthiness (ICA) airworthiness limitations to assess defects and imperfections. The AME will also supervise other AMEs and mentor subordinate technicians.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics)
  • Sound knowledge of Aviation Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and the DASR 145 Aircraft Maintenance Regulatory Framework
  • Hold a DASR Part 66 Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence (MAML) – Category B2 with CH47F Type Rating (preferable, not essential)
  • Previous experience as a maintenance certifier / trade supervisor
  • A high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of computer-based maintenance management systems
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance of NV1
