Join AIAC’s team as a Ground Theory Instructor where you will play a key role in providing excellent ground training for students in accordance with CASA Standards and providing experience and knowledge to other instructors. This full-time position requires strong organisational, administrative and computer skills, a passion for people, the ability to learn on the job and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The ground theory instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and managing ground theory training for student pilots in accordance with CASA Part 61 MOS and AIAC policies. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Ground Theory Instructors will create an engaging learning experience, maintain up-to-date training materials, monitor student progress, and contribute to the continuous improvement of AIAC’s ground school.
Key accountabilities/responsibilities
Deliver high-quality ground theory instruction for CPL and IREX courses
Prepare, maintain, and update training materials, resources, and assessment tools.
Monitor student welfare and academic progress, providing guidance and support throughout their studies.
Liaise with ASPEQ for exam bookings, ensure exam rooms are maintained, and track student results.
Maintain accurate training records, reports, and student progress data.
Participate in curriculum development and ensure training programs meet regulatory and internal standards.
Support, mentor, and standardise other ground instructional staff to maintain consistency and excellence in training delivery.
Maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Adhere to all company policies including WHS, Code of Conduct, and Drug and Alcohol policies.
Keep management informed of any issues affecting student progress, training quality, or safety.
Undertake other duties as directed by the Head of Operations or management.
Essential Criteria
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Instrument Rating (not required to be current).
Excellent theoretical knowledge of aviation subjects and CASR Part 61 MOS.
Demonstrated experience in teaching aviation theory or developing training materials.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
High level of computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital learning tools.
Strong computer and administrative skills
Passionate about working with people.
Sound communication skills.
Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently.

Renumeration:
$66,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
