Aireon

Aireon operates a global space-based ADS-B air traffic surveillance system on the Iridium satellite constellation, delivering real-time aircraft tracking data to ANSPs, airlines and aviation stakeholders.

Aireon operates the world's first global space-based air traffic surveillance system, using Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) receivers hosted on a constellation of 66 low Earth orbit Iridium satellites to deliver real-time aircraft tracking data. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in McLean, Virginia, the company supplies surveillance data to air navigation service providers, airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers and national security users. Air navigation service providers in over 40 countries rely on Aireon data, which supports surveillance across more than 50 percent of the world's airspace with 100 percent global real-time aircraft coverage.

The coverage is continuous and global, including oceanic and remote airspace where conventional radar surveillance is absent or uneconomic. For ANSPs, that extends controller situational awareness beyond existing ground-based infrastructure and underpins safety and efficiency gains in procedural airspace; the associated operational improvements also contribute to reduced CO2 emissions across the network.

The Aireon portfolio comprises AireonSTREAM, which delivers ADS-B surveillance data streams; AireonFLOW, for air traffic flow management; AireonINSIGHTS, providing aviation data analytics; AireonVECTOR, covering tracking and analytics; and AireonPORTAL, the access point for surveillance data and analytics. Technical domains span space-based ADS-B surveillance, satellite-based aircraft tracking, real-time air traffic management data, aviation data analytics and low Earth orbit satellite communications.

Customers span the aviation value chain: air navigation service providers, airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers and national security and defense users, served on a global footprint that reaches more than 40 countries.
