About the Role

We're looking for a Full Stack Team Lead who loves to build as much as they love to lead. You'll split your time between guiding a talented team of frontend and backend engineers and staying hands-on in the codebase, shaping the architecture of modern, scalable web applications built with PHP and React.

What You'll Do

Leading the team

• Lead, mentor and support a team of frontend and backend engineers, helping each person grow
• Run code reviews, set engineering standards and champion clean, maintainable code
• Work with product and stakeholders to plan, scope and prioritise work
• Own technical decisions on architecture, performance and scalability
• Create a positive, collaborative team culture where people do their best work

Building the product

• Write clean, well-structured code across the stack in PHP and React
• Design and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Design database schemas and optimise queries in relational databases
• Build with AWS services including Lambda and SQS, plus WebSockets and Cloudflare Workers
• Tackle complex problems, from performance bottlenecks to architectural challenges

What We're Looking For

Must have

• 5+ years of commercial experience with PHP and React
• Proven experience leading and managing an engineering team
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, including schema design and query optimisation
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs and event-driven systems (Lambda, SQS, WebSockets)
• A solid grasp of PHP's request lifecycle and execution model, and how to design around it (queues, workers, async processing)
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Clear communication and a team-first attitude

Nice to have

• Experience with Cloudflare Workers
• Familiarity with aviation industry systems, or a genuine interest in learning
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
